16 ECTS Minimum Number of Credits

The new law amendment forsees that all students enrolled in a bachelor's or diploma programme from the winter semester of 2022/2023 onward need to complete 16 ECTS before the end of the fourth semester (Mindeststudienleistung). Students who fail to do so will be de-registered from the study program in which they have not fulfilled this requirement. An admission to the same degree program is possible after two academic years (= four semesters). 

• The rule applies to each study program individually i.e. if a student enrolls in more than one study program from the winter semester of 2022/2023, they need to complete 16 ECTS in each study program by the end of the fourth semester
• Recognition of courses/exams counts towards the amount of these ECTS points only if the courses that will be accredited have been completed since the beginning of the study program
